The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital takes great pride in the special relationships that we form with the infants and families we serve in southeastern Connecticut.
Our team of highly qualified professionals, including neonatal staff nurses, advanced practitioners, physician assistants and board-certified neonatologists will provide your infant with best-practice newborn intensive care.
While the majority of newborn infants are born healthy, specialized care and monitoring are sometimes necessary. Should your infant require more care, our 14-bed Level III NICU - the only specialized newborn medical unit in southeastern Connecticut - features highly sophisticated equipment specially designed to care for critically-ill newborns in an environment that fosters family involvement and healthy development.
NICU
Our special NICU Transport Team is always ready to pick up your infant should he/she require more care than what is offered at the hospital where you give birth. We pride ourselves in our ability to respond and transport your infant to the Lawrence + Memorial NICU and at the same time, provide you the information and support that you will need.
Because relationship-based care guides our practice, we are in a unique position to offer you individualized education by providing you the time and skills necessary for you to assume your role as parent. In our warm, personal and family-centered atmosphere these very small and fragile infants have a wonderful chance to thrive and grow.
